My work is based heavily around the subject and study of geology. By taking images and exploring surface texture, I use a range of mixed mediums from graphite powder and oil paints to varnishes. I illustrate geological plate movement and the change within the landscape to represent the imagery of layering and the replication of our earth's surface. I take images from rock formations and accentuate the colour and texture constructing my description of a visual interpretation of my research. My degree show has been built around this particular subject, and I have created a sequence of paintings which show a series of two dimensional plates of surface texture. Using graphical references within my work, I find the illustrative quality alongside the painterly gestures the focal point of my practice. I have chosen the use of geology and volcanic matter to be changing/ living, which develops into busy new activities and colours, where I can manipulate the landscape, and carry a vast amount of imagination within the compositional setting. I am open to commisson work and to sell my work if you are interested, please email me at:
